Tom McCranie is 70 years old. Born 1939 in northwest Louisiana, he graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute with a BS in mechanical engineering. Tom started creative writing in 2008. Married, he’s got four children, four grandchildren, one great granddaughter. He’s been a left-brain thinker all his life—which makes him the perfect candidate to write Left-Brain Gumbo: Occasional musings of how a left-brain thinker expands his right-brain abilities.

Here’s Tom’s creative bio, his first ever:
One of the two rivers named Red in the United States separates a city and a small town in northwest Louisiana; the city where I was born and the town where I grew up. I seldom went to the city except for church, clothes, and doctors. I lived a life like Tom Sawyer’s in the town. Now the city is more of a town and the town a city, and I don’t live in either.

Taste your first bite of Left-Brain Gumbo today.
